Moda Bake Shop ~ Handy Organizer
![]()
Today I ran across a really cute and simple sewing project at the Moda Bake Shop. It didn't take me long to gather all of the materials needed for the little organizer...

Does this ever happen to you? Well, it happened to me today, for real. I did not stage this, I dropped my purse and all of the contents spilled out. What if something really embarrassing was in there? The answer to this question came today when I was browsing through all of my favorite quilting blog sites. Moda Bake Shop has many designers that offer free projects that are meant specifically to be used with Moda sweet treats like honey buns, etc.

I didn't have any honey buns on hand, but I wanted the organizer to match the most recent handbag that I made so I used the fabric from that. I cut about 12 strips from three different fabrics 1 1/2 inches wide. My batting wasn't 18 inches long either like the pattern called for, so I adjusted the pattern to 10 x 15 inches.

I would have to say that sewing on the binding was the most challenging thing about this project. I did a little bit of machine sewing on the binding to really secure it into place.

Isn't it cute? It matches so nicely with the handbag. I still enjoy carrying it everywhere, even though it doesn't go with anything that I wear. Crazy that these are my favorite quilting colors, but not the choices I make in clothes. I will have to learn to accessorize better...

Now when I open my purse I get another surprise for my viewing pleasure. No more clutter and all of my receipts will be in one place. Maybe I won't have so much trouble finding my keys...
