First Snow Of The Year...
![]()
It is early October and already the temperature has dropped below freezing. Is it any wonder then that we had snow?

When we woke up early October 10th, we found the first light dusting of snow on the ground. I admit to complete shock because last year around this time we were still having quite warm weather.

Will you be surprised to know that Katie was the first one to go outside and play that day? No, I don't think it was a surprise at all. There wasn't much to do out there and it was very cold.

Katie quickly came back inside and was warmed by the hug of a big sister. This is too sweet...

When I woke up two days later to let the dog out for his morning potty break, again we were greeted with snow. This time I think it was better received and quite pretty.

All of this cold weather does not bode well for the corn and soy beans. I didn't realize while we were enjoying all of the nice weather this summer that the farmers were biting their nails. When we were at church last Sunday we learned a little bit about corn and soy beans and how they need to be at a certain level of moisture before they are really considered harvest-able. This perfect level will probably not be met. So let's try to be patient with all of the farm vehicles coming and going around December...

On the second day of snow, Katie was again outside and ready to play. She was out there for hours. Her brother Justin came out to help her make a snow man. The snow man is still out there to this day even though all of the other snow melted.

My poor deck furniture...
My poor flowers!

I think this picture tells the story the best...
