Vine and Leaf Beret...
![]()
Ever since I saw the cover of Vogue Knitting Magazine I have had this project on my mind. I had to knit myself a hat and I had some great hand-dyed yarn to do it with...
For those of you that wanted to see me wearing this hat, this post has been updated...

I started knitting about three years ago and I still had not tried knitting a pattern from a chart. I firmly believed that I was not good enough to understand all of those crazy symbols nor did I have the ability to keep my place. Well, when I saw the vine and leaf beret in the Vogue Knitting magazine, I threw all caution to the wind. I diligently worked at it whenever I had a spare moment. And do you know what helped me keep my spot? A post-it note. I am so clever....

You know what I discovered about knitting charts? They really are easy to understand! At least the charts for this pattern were easy. I am now ready to try knitting patterns that have charts. I can't tell you how many cute knitted items I have passed up because of knitting charts.
Once I got to this part of the pattern, I was so excited to finish. I had a hard time not racing ahead of myself and making all kinds of mistakes.

Well, there you have it. The completed beret and it is not too shabby. I love this hat and I love even more that I am ready with a new hat for the winter. Yes, I said the dreaded word, winter...

Oh, did you say that you wanted to see it again? Okay, here it is....

Here you go Clyde! I am now not a coward...

Robert thinks I look like a spy....
