Christmas Table Runner...

Thanksgiving is just around the corner, which in my mind means, I have to get working on Christmas gifts! Once again, I turned to Moda Bake Shop to get my inspiration and made this cute table runner...

I know I have mentioned this before, but I have to say it again. I love using my computer to find quilting ideas! I can have it open right there to see the instructions and get a really good visual idea of how to make each project. I loved how Rachel from ps i quilt used French General fabrics in a vintage inspired table runner. You can see the instructions if you go to Moda Bake Shop and look under the October archives. You can also see it here.

These are the fabrics I chose to work with. At first I was not too thrilled with them. I realized later that I just needed to get out of my comfort zone and quilt with something other than green and pink! I do tend to gravitate towards those two colors. In the end, I was quite pleased with how the red, green, yellow, cream and blues worked together. So, go ahead, I give you permission to try something new when you make your Christmas gifts this year!

The instructions for this pattern were very good. I had the right amount of fabric and all of the measurements were precise. I didn't have to use any coping strips or anything! I was so thrilled to have something actually work out the first time I tried it!

Not much to say here, except that I love these little Charlie Brown Christmas trees!

I had to give the table runner the final test before I decided to call it finished. The best judges in the house are my owl salt and pepper shakers. They liked it...

When I was all done sewing the binding on, I knew right away that I just have to give this table runner to my Aunt Duane. She just sent me 12 yards of muslin and lots of great baby pictures of me that I thought I would never see again! It is so nice to be able to make something for others, not just keeping everything I make for my self. I do that a lot....

One of my "other" hobbies is card making. I had to share this card set I made using fall colors before I mail them off to my Grandma. She is always sending cards to everybody and never misses a birthday or holiday. I think she will have good use for them!
Happy Quilting and Card making!
