october

October is finally here in full swing and my table has nothing to wear. I needed to make something fast, this is what I picked...

Runner

This is what passed for a table runner last weekend. I don't know about you, but I thought it needed something different.

I have been meaning to give this pattern a try and hadn't tried it yet. I went with the one in the center. The pattern is called Little Charmers Two by Heather Mulder Peterson. The focal point with these three pattern are charm squares, and more importantly, pre-cut squares.

quilt block pieces

These are the pieces all ready to sew. I really like these warm colors. They aren't traditional fall patterns, which is why I love 'em. The pattern is called Framed 4 Patch. The instructions are very simple to follow and are only one page long.

Oh, look at me sewing away... While I sew the table runner together, I thought I would share some of my other fall decorations around the house.

wood platter

Don't you just love using corn for decorations? I do, these little dried corn cobs are so cute. The table runner underneath of the wooden platter was a fun pattern that I tried two years ago. I think the colors in this one are fun too.

cornicopia

Oh look, more dried corn...

All of the framed 4 patches are now sewn all together. This was such a fast and fun pattern. I wonder why I didn't try it sooner?

quilted table runner

Isn't this a great pattern? I thought it would be fun to use some fusible batting on this table runner. I always use fusible batting when I make bags and purses, but this is my first time using it for a table runner. I highly recommend it. For the first time I have a smooth table runner, there are no bulging bumps on this one!

I was encouraged to try straight quilting lines when I saw the beautiful quilting done by Tina on her blog, Needles-N-Notions. With all of the attention of free-motion quilting I completely forgot how beautiful straight lines can be.

I love these two owls. I found them at a local kitchen and decor store and rescued them. I have started to realize that I have quite a collection of salt and pepper shakers. I assure you that it was quite by accident.

Well, the table runner is complete and my kitchen table is no longer out of fashion. I am really happy with the way this fall table runner turned out.

I think the owls like it too. They just keep staring at it. I don't think they have blinked once.

Happy Quilting!
