Making the Sewing Wallet..pt.1
![]()
On my last trip to the local quilt store in Ames, Iowa, I saw this cute pattern for making a sewing wallet for all of your sewing notions. Right next to the pattern was a completed sewing wallet to marvel at. It was so interesting in it's details that I had to grab one...

I really liked the muted tones of the fabric that they used in their example and this was as close as I could get from my own stash of fabric. These fabrics are left over from a quilt that I made about two years ago in Ketchikan, Alaska. The local quilt store there, The Silver Thimble, had a block of the month club using Moda's Cinnamon Stars as one of the choices. I have a lot of left overs from that. I think it is going to be really pretty...

While I was in Ketchikan I also had joined the Rainy Day Quilt Guild. The friends I made during those four years will always be remembered for their generosity and willingness to share their knowledge with me. One of the funnest parts of the guild meetings was the secret quilt sisters leaving secret gifts. In one of the gifts I received these pretty pink and green fat quarters. I thought maybe if I made a sewing wallet out of them, my daughter Rebecca might be inspired to be my sewing buddy.

One year during the Christmas party for the Rainy Day Quilt Guild I received this wonderful snowmen wall-hanging from my secret quilt buddy. When I opened it I was in absolute awe that some one would make something so nice and actually give it to me. I had to try really hard not to cry and the women sitting next to me had to pretend they didn't notice. What a great memory of my time there. Thanks Jill...
