Clyde's Block of the Month Club...
![]()
Last week Clyde gave me all of his block of the month quilt blocks. He told me to make something with them and that I could have them. I know how much he loves these colorful blocks, so I put them together, and he is going to keep them...

I found a great layout for the nine blocks that were available and added four paper foundation blocks. I was really excited to make this quilt for Clyde and got right to work.

This is my favorite block that Clyde made. All of the kids would walk by and say that they liked this one the best too.

And here they are all put together! This is a super easy layout, I will be using it again. The book that I used was Carol Doak's Simply sensational 9-Patch Stars. I have made almost all of the blocks in the book, but this was my first time trying one of her layouts. Very easy to understand and all of the measurements were accurate.

I didn't have enough batik fabric to use for the back, so I pieced together everything that I had that was a whole piece and sewed them all together. I actually like the pieced look a lot. For awhile I was beginning to think that it was going to be ridiculous, but in the end it worked out.

While I am machine quilting I am never quite sure what designs I am going to end up with. This was one of my favorite patterns that I found when I was done. Every time I machine quilt I can see how I am improving and how I can still get better.

After all of the quilting was done, this block turned out to be my ultimate favorite of all Clyde's blocks. I even managed to quilt some designs on it that looked like fire, which is what the color reminds me of.

The only thing left now is to find some fabric for the binding. I think I am going to have to take this quilt to Clyde's house and raid his stash for just the right one. Something tells me he has plenty...

Look at the back! I think it looks like it has two sides. What a deal, huh Clyde...
I hope you like it and can't wait to give it to you. Until then, I will get to enjoy looking at it....
